Click here to enter your book review.
As part of Cool to Read Week, the library will be having a “book review” contest. All participating students will be entered into a raffle to win a prize and submissions will be posted on the library website. Think about how you can use the digital media lab and the green screen for a really cool project.
Students can do one of the following:
Write a Book Review - You can complete a book review for any book you have independently read. Please give the book review to your teacher or to Mrs. DeLuca for submission.
Create a Video Book Review. Simply take a video of yourself reviewing the book of your choice (see example below).
Create a Video Book Trailer. A book trailer is similar to a movie trailer. It gives a little taste of what the book is about, without giving up too much information. It is meant to advertise or promote the book so that viewers want to read it. The examples below were done by AMS students:

Ally Finkle's Rules for Girls Moving Day by Meg Cabot
Book Review by Sara
The book Ally Finkle's Rules for Girls Moving Day by Meg Cabot is about a nine-year-old girl named Ally Finkle. Ally has a lot going on in her life. First of all, Ally "accidentally" touched her friend Mary Kay's uvula with a spatula and now she will barely talk to her. Secondly, when Ally's parents tell her they are moving, Ally is positive that the move will not be good, and that her life will be flipped around. When Ally has to leave behind her rock collection at her old house, make all new friends, and go to a new school, she realizes what a change this is going to be in her life. The first day that Ally, her two younger brothers, and her parents move into their new house, she can tell that it is haunted. "Is something living up in the attic?" Ally wonders every day and night. Ally's new neighbor goes to her new school, and could possibly be in her class depending on what class Ally is in, which is not determined yet. With the move, going to a new school, living in a "haunted" house, making new friends, and leaving her geode collection, will Ally survive the change?

Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan
Book Review by Calvin
"Until she met the exploding statue, Annabeth thought she was prepared for anything. She'd paced the deck of their warship, the Argo II, checking and double checking. She confirmed that the white "we come in peace sign" was flying from the mast. She reviewed the plan with the rest of the crew - the backup plan, and the backup plan for the backup plan. Everything seemed to be in order. Annabeth even asked Leo to send one of his inventions - a holograph scroll - to alert their friends inside the camp. Too late to turn back now" (Riordan 1-2).
Rick Riordan continues his epic saga in his latest installment of the Mark of Athena, where Percy Jackson and his crew are faced with a traitor among men. The Mark of Athena builds on this prophecy and Percy and his crew realize that both Olympians and Titans will try to manipulate, control or even destroy the ones destined to fulfill the prophecy.
